DEA Compliance 101

This presentation provides veterinary professionals and personnel with a comprehensive overview of DEA regulatory authority, compliance rules and regulations according to Title 21 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).  By the end of this course, attendees will have a thorough understanding of how controlled substances are legally scheduled and regulated.  DEA registrant requirements and responsibilities will be discussed, including who needs a DEA registration, what it takes to obtain one, how to maintain good standing and why a DEA registration could be sanctioned, limited, or revoked. Obligations regarding record keeping and security protocols will be highlighted, including the most commonly abused and diverted drugs and basic security requirements for DEA registrants.
