Available for RACE Approved CE credit if watched from 1:30pm-2:20pm CST on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
Holistic support of the veterinary cancer patient from diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition is essential. The enhancement and maintenance of quality of life is of paramount concern, and care must be tailored to address the specific needs of the individual, with consideration given to pain management, nutritional support, and relief of other distressing tumor- and treatment-related symptoms. This presentation examines the various ways in which we can deliver compassionate oncologic care through the use of supportive medications, acupuncture, chemotherapy, and radiation. The progressive stages of nutritional support, as well as palliative procedures such as the removal of tumor-related effusions or obstructions, are also reviewed.
