New York State Veterinary Medical Society Announces CE event at New York Vet

NEW YORK, NEW YORK'CloserStill Vet US, organizer of the Vet Show veterinary event portfolio, is excited to join forces with the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS) to launch 'Big Ideas in the Big Apple' at New York Vet this year.

This new event will see NYSVMS deliver a 2-day conference focused on helping veterinarians in private practice engage with community animal shelters to improve animal welfare.

NYSVMS and New York Vet will provide an environment for attendees to learn, discuss, and explore issues with other veterinary professionals. Attendees can drop into any session while are attending New York Vet, or join for the whole NYSVMS program.

This partnership enables NYSVMS to deliver even more high-quality CE opportunities to members across the state of New York and to the entire veterinary audience at the event. Moreover, the collaboration further cements New York Vet as a must-attend event for veterinarians and practice teams from across the country.

The first day of the NYSVMS program includes panel discussions with Erin Satterthwaite, JD, Elizabeth Brandler, JD, Laura Niestat, DVM, and Alison Liu, DVM, focused on what constitutes animal-related crimes and how to handle them in the veterinary practice. The second day will feature Makenzie Peterson, MSc, wellbeing program director at Cornell University, who will discuss tips and tricks for working with difficult clients, reducing workplace stress, and tackling debt and career development.

'We all became veterinarians because we love animals and want to make a positive impact on their lives,' said Peterson. 'We focus on the human'animal bond, while building long-lasting partnerships with owners. Sometimes we have to have difficult conversations which are emotionally charged and can make our days hard. This day of workshops will help us understand ourselves as well as how to change our the most difficult situations into an opportunity to thrive while we care for animals.''
