Updates on the management of canine degenerative mitral valve disease
Most dogs with degenerative mitral valve disease are asymptomatic as perceived by their owners and veterinarians. Dogs with moderate to severe mitral insufficiency due to MMVD may have vague signs of heart failure such as inappetance, weakness, exercise intolerance, syncope, and weight loss, but most clinical signs result from pulmonary congestion/congestive heart failure. This will be a case based presentation to illustrate different approaches to canine degenerative mitral valve disease patients.
