Cancer and complications related to its treatment can result in emergencies. For patients experiencing oncologic emergencies, successful outcomes require prompt identification to allow for earlier treatment efforts. This talk seeks to provide practical guidelines on how to recognize, diagnosis, and treat some of the more common oncologic emergencies. It focuses on adverse effects of chemotherapy, hypercalcemia of malignancy, and hemorrhagic effusion.
