Chemotherapy 101

This lecture is designed for the primary care veterinarian, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the most current chemotherapy drugs used in veterinary medicine and their indications. We will briefly discuss the concepts of metronomic chemotherapy and maximally tolerated chemotherapy. We will provide an overview of the most common chemotherapy drugs such as vinca alkaloids, anthracyclines, alkylating agents…etc, and targeted chemotherapies available for our veterinary patients. We will discuss their mechanism of action, as well as their indications and expected side effects.
